My Fairy Wings
This project is an interactive visual novel and point-n-click game about a lone fairy living alone in her forest cottage after losing her kin in a past war. Over the course of one week, the player will guide the fairy through her daily routine (gardening, cooking, sleeping, and fetching water) while also getting the chance to encounter friendly woodland creatures: a bunny, squirrel, and fox. Through choices in dialogue, the player will form bonds of companionship. The narrative unfolds with cozy visuals, gentle soundscapes, and different paths, culminating in an ending of simple company or a heartfelt dinner shared with new friends. The project ultimately explores themes of hope, resilience, and finding warmth in small connections.
I focused on creating silly, whimsical, yet comforting conversations between the player and the characters. I wanted to create a cozy game that added some level of difficulty while also feeling natural and playable.
You can access the game at THIS LINK HERE. A video demonstration can be viewed below.
Creating this video game has taught me a lot about critical problem-solving, game development techniques, JavaScript, visual assets, and so much more. I am deeply grateful to this project for expanding my understanding of programming and unlocking the feeling of being able to do anything with code. I feel like I have unlocked a lot of potential and would love to do pet projects similar to this in the future.
You may view some in-game assets below.
In terms of credits, I ultimately programmed each part of the game and drew each visual asset myself. ChatGPT assisted with some debugging and coding structures and I referenced Infinity Nikki and Akatsuki no Yona for visual inspiration. The sound effects were found from Pixabay and the music is called "unbound". None of these carry any copyright, but I do not claim them as my own.
